State Water Heaters recently supported Kurt Busch in his “Double” attempt on May 25, when he raced in both IndyCar’s Indianapolis 500 and NASCAR’s Coca-Cola 600. As part of that partnership, State agreed to support Busch’s charity of choice, the Armed Forces Foundation (AFF), by donating $25 for each mile the driver completed of the 1,100-mile race.

After his engine expired in the last half of the Coca-Cola 600, Busch clocked in with 906 miles, bringing State’s total donation to $22,650. The water heater manufacturer was on hand at the Quaker State 400 presented by Advance Auto Parts race in Sparta, Ky. to present the check to Busch and AFF.

“State Water Heaters’ generous support of the Armed Forces Foundation is incredibly valuable to our mission to assist those men and women who have bravely fought for this country,” said Patricia Driscoll, president of the AFF. “We’re honored to have State as a partner in our efforts, and the company’s significant contribution will undoubtedly have a measurable impact on veterans’ lives.”

Busch is an advocate and representative of the AFF, utilizing motorsports as a platform to bring attention to the Foundation and its efforts to offer vital assistance to active-duty and retired military personnel, National Guard, Reserve Components and military families.

“It makes me proud to have a sponsor like State, who cares so passionately about serving a charity that is close to my heart,” said Busch. “Their support of both me during the “Double” and our country’s veterans through this donation is truly remarkable, and I look forward to building our relationship even further.”

“It’s great to have partners like Kurt and the AFF who so closely mirror the values of the State Water Heaters family,” said Jeff Storie, senior manager of marketing for State. “The State team is thrilled to be giving back to those who serve our nation’s heroes.”
