Tony Stewart, driver of the No. 14 Code 3 Associates/Mobil 1 Chevrolet SS, led the four-car Stewart-Haas Racing (SHR) contingent Sunday at Dover (Del.) International Speedway by finishing seventh in the FedEx 400 benefiting Autism Speaks NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race. It was Stewart’s fifth top-10 this season and his 17th top-10 in 30 career Sprint Cup starts at Dover.
Kevin Harvick, driver of the No. 4 Budweiser Chevrolet SS for SHR, started 20th and finished 17th. He led twice for 24 laps before a flat tire derailed his race.
Kurt Busch, driver of the No. 41 Haas Automation Chevrolet SS for SHR, started 24th and finished 18th.
Danica Patrick, driver of the No. 10 GoDaddy Chevrolet SS for SHR, started 28th and finished 23rd.
Jimmie Johnson won the FedEx 400 benefiting Autism Speaks to score his 68th career Sprint Cup victory. It was his second straight win and his ninth at Dover, the most of any NASCAR driver, past or present.
Brad Keselowski finished .885 of a second behind Johnson in the runner-up spot, while Matt Kenseth, Clint Bowyer and Denny Hamlin rounded out the top-five. Martin Truex Jr., Stewart, Joey Logano, Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Paul Menard comprised the remainder of the top-10.
There were eight caution periods for 41 laps, with six drivers failing to finish the 400-lap race.
With round 13 of 36 complete, Harvick leads the SHR contingent in the championship point standings. He is 12th with 373 points, 90 behind new series leader Kenseth. Stewart is 21st with 336 points, 127 out of first. Busch is 27th with 241 points, 222 out of first. Patrick is 28th with 239 points, 224 out of first.
The next event on the Sprint Cup schedule is the Pocono 400 on Sunday, June 8 at Pocono (Pa.) Raceway. The race starts at 1 p.m. EDT, with live coverage provided by TNT beginning with its prerace show at noon.
