Rated 4 out of 5 by from Too soon to tell... Our new water heater was installed 4 days ago. The installation seemed to go smoothly and, so far, all is well.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So Far So Good Happy so far... three weeks since water heater installation... 50 gallon, gas, power vent. Plenty of hot water. Replaced a 23-year water heater (AO SMITH). Crossing my fingers, hoping I have another water heater (STATE) that will be going strong years and years after the published warranty period.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Vibrations? Unit supplies more than enough hot water, but seems to short cycle. There is some vibration through the floor from vent pipe. Not sure what causes vibration

Rated 4 out of 5 by from New Unexpected Purchase I bought this due to an unexpected remodel and decided, after discussing with my GC, that a new water heater purchase would outweigh alternative options. I entrusted the GC with the purchase and they said that this was one of the better water heaters in the market to date and of good quality. I've had State Water Heaters in the past and have had no issues. Apparently, this is an energy efficient unit which, I will see on our next utility bill. When the blower kicks on, it seems to be a bit loud, but with that being said, I'm not used to the unit yet so it may take some time to get used to I suppose. Thanks! Sandra

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Old one lasted 21 years - hope new one does too Our old State water heater lasted 21 years so when it finally died of old age a week ago, we decided to stick with the same brand of water heater. We use LP with a power vent. We had the exact same size water heater installed, 40 gal. I was surprised to find that the new models don't burn a pilot light all the time, but I like that as it isn't an ongoing flame. However, the same day of installation found that we ran out of hot water and when we checked it, found the flash error code message stating the that a valve fault was detected. Needless to say we call our installation guy at 10pm at night and they checked it out the next day with the company and found it was the gas valve unit. They ordered the entire valve sensor unit and was able to install it 3 days later. It is really hard to take cold showers. But so far in the last 2 days it has been running fine. Hope this one lasts at least half as long as our old one.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy to switch out I bought this heater to replace our existing one that went out. It was very easy to switch them out. Everything lined up from the old heater except the vent pipe which need to be shortened by a few inches.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Quiet! It was installed only yesterday, replacing another State heater of the same capacity, so it's early days. So far it is much quieter during operation than it's predecessor. The outer jacket is cool to the touch, indicating good insulation. I like the controls, with an "infinite" temperature selection dial.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Replacing another water heater I just had this installed, so too early to report on performance. However, my previous water heater was also a "power vented" heater and the motor on this model is far less annoying. If the water heater performs well, then I win with just the noise reduction of the power vent.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Tough The product is ok it has a recall so maybe that’s why the water has been going cold so fast

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Attained minimum service life 50 gallon GS6-50-YBVIS 200 came with the house and lasted almost exactly 8 years. Its spec service life is 8-12 years, with a 6 year warranty, so shame on me for hoping for more than the minimum life. It was efficient while it lasted, so I’d rate it as “average” overall.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Jury still out Original Water heater (same model) was installed 09-25-2019 in a newly built town home. In Jun 2022 the water heater leaked and the unit itself was replaced under the warranty. I had to pay the labor to replace it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Loyal customer Am replacing a gts50nih serial #1404a006859 (tankless) that was installed 5/15/2014 inwhich the heat exchanger started to leak water out the bottom of unit, am hoping to receive warranty credit in buying new standard tank.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Worked Ok, then the rust started I had this unit professionally installed back in early 2018 and here at the end of 2021 the unit has this rust / corrosion starting right at the base of the hot water outlet. I was told by the installer that the unit could go at any time and that I risked it actually exploding if I continued to use it. With covid replacement parts and service are hard to come by, so even if it's under warranty I don't expect it to be fixed for weeks. Given that this was almost $2,000 to have installed I am very disappointed.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Seems like it'll work fine We purchased this hot water heater at the suggestion of our plumber whom we have trusted for many, many years. We have a very cramped space in which to install a hot water heater. The 40-gallon was the biggest we could use. Since it was just installed today, 8/4/2020, we have no way of rating the new heater but it seems just fine and we're looking forward to lots of hot water!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not happy with the replacement water heater Our previous State select water heater which was 15 years old worked flawlessly until it broke yesterday. We replaced with another State water heater, however it did not work. The tech came back and diagnosed that the controller was bad. He will get the replacement tomorrow to fix it. In the meantime we are without hot water. Did not expect a brand new water heater out of the box to not work as intended. The only reason for the 3 stars was because of the previous unit.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not long lasting This is our 4th water heater in 18 years at this house! 3 of them have been State brand. If this one was not under warrenty, we would have definitely looked at a different choive. On demand or something.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from This water heater works well The water heater works very well, for a high efficiency model. This home is a ranch with bathroom at both ends, kitchen in the middle. The hot water takes awhile to get where it's going but when it does it's outstanding!!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Gas Hot Water Tank Review This has been installed just short of one year. Overall, the product is fine. Over past months have noticed increasingly louder "blower/vent" noise when system heats up. This has even woken me up during the night. Tech has not been able to diagnose yet.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Jury is still out I had this unit installed about 6 weeks ago. The installer said he set the temperature where he always does. The water was so scalding I had to turn the setting down, twice. Now it's still extremely hot only now we run out of hot water very quickly. I need help please. The installer says there is no issue with the installation. Must be an issue with the unit.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Did not last Just had to replace this water heater after only 5 years. Just missed the warranty by a couple of months. Couldn't switch brands because the height had to be level with our second water heater.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from High maintenance, poor quality I had one installed in December 2019. Had to replace a TAP valve after a year. Starting making annoying popping/bubbling noises before 2 years and had to replace the anode. Less than a year later the anode is bad again. My previous water lasted about 10 years with no problems.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from No hot water on a new install This item was just installed on 4/30/2022 and there's no hot water. The installer already contacted the supplied for a thermostat controller. Sad to buy such an expensive item that doesn't work. I guess Quality Control doesn't apply.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Quit It quit after 18 months, tech support not very helpful. When I tries to tell them there was no tco reset button, she insisted ther was and finally agreed this model has no reset. No one locally carries parts. Waited a ridiculous amount of time to get through. Plumber can't find parts either.never again.....
