Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loooong life! My original builder-installed State Select GS6-50-BRT was still going strong after 18.5 years when I broke the drain valve. My home warranty decided to replace the entire heater rather than just the valve. I'm kind of disappointed that they replaced the whole unit because I wanted to see how long I could make it last. All I ever did maintenance-wise was to open the drain valve every three months for < 30 seconds to flush out sediment until the water ran clear. As this model had only a 6-year warranty, I didn't expect it to last more than 12-15 years, so I was pleasantly surprised when it kept going well past that. Because of my 100% long and trouble-free experience with this make and model, I insisted on the identical replacement unit. I trust I will have reliable hot water for the next 18+ years.

Now my home is up to code and we now have plenty of hot water! The water heater is a commercial grade, well built and must be well insulated. It is energy efficient, does not cycle on as much as the old one.

There were several different things that were not up to code with the old one. This unit has been inspected and passed city code. Have already referred to a neighbor. Very happy!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My second State Waterheater During the fall of 2011, we built a new home. The builder installed a State 50 gallon water heater.. That water heater worked flawlessly for over 10 years. The igniter lead failed, so I reverted to lighting the pilot light with a match. In mid August, 2024, the tank developed a leak so I replaced the water heater with another State 50 gallon unit. I have experience with working with water heaters so I did the installation myself.. The installation was not a "plug and play" procedure but very close.. I am very satisfied with State's quality and I highly recommend their products.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product and very reliable hot water heater. This is my second gas Hot water heater from State Waters. My first one purchased 12 years ago with 6 year warranty. I have been periodically flushing the tank and in 2021 replaced the anod rod, the original anod rod was in good condition. I stayed with the same because of company name, reliable and quality product ( no issue in 12 years) and the dimensions for the gas line and hot and cold water line did not need to be adjusted that was a plus. It was little pricey but worth it.
