State Water Heaters Adapt+ Tankless Unit Improves Hot Water Access for Kansas City Homeowner

Learn how a Kansas City homeowner improved hot water access throughout their home with the State Adapt+ Tankless Water Heater, delivering reliable performance and greater flexibility where traditional solutions fell short.

In Kansas City, Missouri, homeowner Bradley Wiedeman needed a new water heater to provide ample hot water for his busy family. Previously, Wiedeman had a tank-type water heater, but after an inspection, it was recommended that a tankless water heater be installed to improve hot water delivery. Wiedeman is also the owner of Reeves-Wiedeman Company, a Kansas City-area plumbing supplier, so he knew he could rely on a State Water Heaters Adapt®+ tankless water heater to get the job done.

“My existing tank-type water heater was noted on a recent inspection to have some venting issues, especially in the application of our house, which is over 100 years old,” said Wiedeman. “It was suggested proactively by the inspector that a tankless water heater would be a great option, as it could be relocated to a new spot in our basement and the venting would be PVC.”

For residential retrofits, having the option to install a unit in different locations is paramount. The Adapt+ water heater offers two- and three-inch dual pipe venting as well as ½- and ¾-inch gas line options. The Adapt+ unit was designed with installation flexibility as a top priority. The design allows for very long venting runs, which enabled the new unit to be installed on the opposite side of the basement from the previous one.

Plumber installing Adapt plus

“Adapt+ tankless is a good friend of the plumbing contractor because when you get to the jobsite, you have one unit that is able to run with natural gas or be converted to liquid propane right there on the jobsite with the parts available in the box,” said Jeff Storie, State Water Heaters’ director of marketing. “Plus, you also have the option to convert the unit from indoor to outdoor with an added accessory kit.”

All Adapt+ models feature State’s patented heavy-duty stainless steel helical heat exchanger. This element has only two weld points and eliminates the need for a secondary heat exchanger, reducing opportunities for leaks. Wiedeman’s Adapt+ unit is also equipped with X3® Scale Prevention Technology, which inhibits scale buildup and corrosion in the heat exchanger, extending the unit’s life by up to three times. With zero lifetime descaling maintenance and an integrated recirculation pump that provides instant hot water, the Adapt+ tankless water heater meets the needs of both busy installers and homeowners.

“As working parents with little kids running around, it was critically important to have hot water readily available,” said Wiedeman. “We no longer have to wait for hot water, and having the Adapt+ tankless with a built-in recirculation pump is a total game-changer.”

“Typically, with a regular tankless unit, the homeowner has to do annual maintenance, and part of that is regular descaling. If the homeowner does not want to do it themselves, they can pay a contractor, but that can add up quickly,” said Erik Haberkorn, Big Rivers Marketing. “The Adapt+ water heater with X3 technology literally pays for itself in the end with all of the savings on scale-related maintenance.
