All Reviews for Premier® 10 Year Heat Pump (130 series)
Rated 5 out of 5 by from High efficiency We bought a house and the water heater needed to be upgraded. We have natural gas, so we received bids. The cost was high, since there was no line to the electric water heater. Our contractor recommended the heat pump water heater. Consumer Reports rated them high, and due to our moderate climate, we’re a good candidate. We should save about $350 per year on water heating costs (based on energy ratings). There are currently state and federal rebates, running to a total of $900, as well. We should get return on our investment in a few years!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Only had this for a few months but combined with solar my hot water is now very affordable. Do hear the heat pump whirring noise but it doesn't really bother us. Because of the size and bulkiness I wish the plumbing were positioned so that it didn't have to stick out into the room and take up even more footprint. Never seem to run out of hot water. It looks attractive but the piping coming from all sides makes the install difficult to look neat and attractive. This should be the only kind of hot water heater sold IMO where space is not an issue.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really hot water Other than very heavy... Down stairs where it barely fit... It's an excellent water heater.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Choice We love the new electric heat pump water heater. Having plenty of hot water when taking a shower feels luxurious. It was a good choice for us and we are very happy with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best of is kind Regulars electric water heaters draws in average 4500 watts at any time it being use but i was surprised to find out this hybrid water heater is only using a small amount of only 346 watts on average even when we takes shower back to back, I'm really impressed with performance and like a bonus my garage is being cool by the water heater

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works Great I work for. A Plumbing & Heating Wholesaler. We have sold thousands of these units and have had very little issues. With the state of Maine’s rebate on this unit I figured it was time for me to put one in and save on my oil bil.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My new 80 G hybrid Installation was straight forward and trouble free. Too early to report on actual product performance, but hot water is hot water...real test will be durability over the coming years (will get back to you on that). One complaint about instructions is that no infornation is provided about anode rod (how to maintain and where located). Especially concerned about height clearance necessary to remove the anode before chosing the permanent install location of the water heater - manual says minimum of 6 inches required, but anode rod is 42 inches...kinda confusing unless the rod is flexible.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great water heater I bought it 2 weeks ago, installed it with ease and have nothing bad at all to say about this product!!! I haven't ran out of hot water yet, I am running it set at 120 degrees and in hybrid mode. no need to run a dehumidifier now as the unit also acts like a dehumidifier. It is not loud at all. Overall... a nice upgrade to the house! Thanks

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple, yet efficient! I just finished the install after my old water heater died. Everything went smoothly and I set the heat pump to run without the elements. I had hot water within 30 minutes. I'm excited to see how my next electricity bill looks!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice water heater but error code after <1 year I got this water heater installed as part of a new construction last year. It has a nice appearance, easy-to-use features and is efficient. My only complaint is that I got a EC50 error code lately after less than 1 year of ownership and the heat pump suction temperature sensor had to be replaced. Overall I still like this water heater but I need to keep monitoring its performance and reliability to really recommend it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from 2nd house same Water heater I put this Heatpump water heater in my last house. This was a big energy saver over the full electric I had before. My family built a new house and this was the only choice as we didn’t have natural gas as an option.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great unit but having some issues I bought this and installed this about a week ago and im already having some minor issues. Fan is making some sort of crackling noise. When you change it from heat pump to electric you can hear the heat pump kick off but the fan is still making that noise after the heat pump kicks off which goes to tell me maybe i am having a fan issue. Good hot water but in hybrid mode i am having that fan noise issue. Hoping i dan get it figured out through state

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I had one of these installed in my other home. So when my water heater went this home I wanted another one. But I thought there was a rebate of some sort. But then again I never asked the corset. I needed a heater and it was hard to find never mind one I stock so Patriot plumbing was here last minute when I needed them and did a good job.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Efficient, but noisy, Purchased 9/2019. First one failed 4/20. Replaced under warranty at no cost to me. Replacement unit working great for 2 years. I live in Maine, so in winter it's not very efficient unless I have the wood stove going to produce warm air. Great in the summer months for efficient hot water, as well as cooling/dehumidifying the cellar. Compressor somewhat noisy, so I don't recommend installing near kitchen or other living area.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does the job, slightly noisy. Installed by the house builder, the heater seems adequate and solid. Seems complicated and a bit noisy.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Energy Saving Water Heaters My original did not last. Got water heater n/chg. But had to pay 600 to install. Lasted 3 years
    Date published: 2024-04-21
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Compressor died after 18 months ECC code after only 18 months of use. Replacement unit was not error free either. No saving from using a hybrid tank considering labor cost to replace this every 1-2 years. Better to get electric tank.
    Date published: 2023-10-25
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Works well but constantly have ECC and beeping The heater works well in general but lately start getting this ECC code every 2-3 days. Sometimes the code shows up with beeping. Have to turn off and on the power to reset the code. But not sure if it is a good idea to turn off and on the power every a few days. Not sure what to do.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice water heater - until it dies I'm a big fan of heat pumps tech and green building. However, this water heater only worked well for 26 months. Then the compressor died - emitting an ECO code. Still worked as an electric water heater. My plumber replaced the tank under warranty but I had to pay the $400+ installation fee. That negated any energy savings I got from this tank.
    Date published: 2023-02-02
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Died after almost 2 years Worked very well in heat pump mode for almost 2 years. Then it would run and run. Electric mode worked but would jump back into hybrid mode on its own after a day or 2. State was very good at replacing the complete heater under warranty, but I had to pay $1100 for labor to get it replaced, There goes my savings compared to buying a straight electric model. Now this new heat pump water heater needs to work flawlessly for 7 more years for me to break even compared to just buying an electric model.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Buy literally ANYTHING else We had 2 installed as part of a transition to geothermal HVAC, 1 50gal, 1 80gal. 80gal threw a code within months, luckily soon enough that the company paid for the fix. But there is only 1 certified tech in the state and it required 2 trips, so there were long waits and I lost work time for each. Company sent the wrong part but luckily I caught that before second trip. 50gal died just after 1 year mark. Company replaced but I had to pay plumbers $600 for the work. 80gal compressor has now failed at the 2 year mark. I will have to fix or replace that now too. Energy savings will never cover all these plumber costs. Trash product. Company should do the right thing and cover labor for replacements.
