Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loooong life! My original builder-installed State Select GS6-50-BRT was still going strong after 18.5 years when I broke the drain valve. My home warranty decided to replace the entire heater rather than just the valve. I'm kind of disappointed that they replaced the whole unit because I wanted to see how long I could make it last. All I ever did maintenance-wise was to open the drain valve every three months for < 30 seconds to flush out sediment until the water ran clear. As this model had only a 6-year warranty, I didn't expect it to last more than 12-15 years, so I was pleasantly surprised when it kept going well past that. Because of my 100% long and trouble-free experience with this make and model, I insisted on the identical replacement unit. I trust I will have reliable hot water for the next 18+ years.
